My dear friend Shari over in Canada has reviewed the Healthy Shopper’s Picks yet again for me! Here’s her opinion on the Healthy Shoppers’ Fall 2014 Picks!
Have you ever noticed how hard it can be to locate coupons for natural and organic products? It can sometimes be like searching for a needle in a hay stack. However, did you know that The Healthy Shopper is the only Canadian coupon book specifically for natural and organic products? Now anyone can get discounts on healthy picks for themselves and their families!
Every season Healthy Shoppers’ pick their favourites and showcase them for you. Luckily for me, Serena lets me try them out, and recently, we have been checking out all the Fall 2014 picks!
Out of the box of goodies, I grabbed the Made Good Organic Granola Minis and Granola Bars first. They are nut-free and totally safe for the kids to take to school (you know if I hadn’t hidden them and eaten them all myself). They are made with whole grains, and vegetable powder so they equal one daily serving of vegetables and they meet 20% of an adult’s required daily intake of various vitamins. Best of all they are sooooooo tasty! They come in a variety of flavours such as chocolate banana, chocolate chip, strawberry, apple cinnamon, and mixed berry, so you are sure to find a flavour to suit you.
Of course, I recognized Pamela’s Products baking products as one that my family has tried before. I love that they have the wheat and gluten-free mixes, as well as all-purpose Artisan Blend Flour. Healthy Shoppers’ selected the Sugar Cookie Baking Mix as another of their Fall 2014 Picks, which is a great for this time of year because we all start thinking of Christmas baking (and eating)! I have tried these products before, and while I am not a gluten-free gal, I really enjoy them! You definitely cannot tell that they are gluten free. Pamela’s products are very high quality baking products, and are always very very tasty!
We are a pasta gobbling family! Almost every night when I am making dinner, my 4 year old son asks if I am making pasta. If the answer is no, I get an over;u dramatic disappointed response. I purchase pasta sauces as the base for my homemade meat sauce, and I often am concerned about the sodium levels in my regular products. So I naturally gravitated to the Simply Natural Pasta Sauces when I saw them. They are low in sodium, gluten-free, non-GMO, and only $3.99! They have several different flavours and if I am lazy and just want to make a quick meal, I can just use their sauce without making my meatsauce, and still quench my son’s pasta cravings!
Our boys are also crazy for yogurt these days. We’ve been trying to get them to try new flavours so that they could take full advantage of the extra vitamins in yogurt. Yummy and healty is always a plus! We were happy to see the Olympic Dairy’s new Chia Yogurt on the list of favourites. It is the first yogurt on the Canadian market with Chia seeds in it. Chia is a super food and is a source of protein and fiber. It also adds healthy Omega 3 oils to an already healthy yogurt! Getting extra nutrients, protein and fiber into us without compromising on taste and while enjoying foods that we love (like yogurt) makes this product a top pick in our house!
Healthy Shoppers’ also had some cold and flu busting miracles on their list of favourites. Allimax is a high-quality herbal supplement designed to help maintain a healthy natural defense system. Allimax has all the benefits of garlic locked in an odour-free, 100% vegetarian capsule. Allicin, the active ingredient, is found in garlic and is the ‘mother’ substance that is totally responsible (or in part) for many of the positive health properties attributable to garlic. The sophisticated refinement process of Allimax allows the extracted allicin to be captured and delivered exactly to where your body needs it quickly and efficiently. So now you can keep yourself healthy enough to look after your kids, and Healthy Shoppers’ favourites has Hyland’s Homeopathic Baby Tiny Cold Tablets and Baby Cough Syrup listed for Fall 2014 as well!. This one is for the kiddies! The Baby Tiny Cold Tablets instantly dissolve in your baby’s mouth and is ideal for cold sniffles, runny noses and congestion; and of course parents can be assured that they’re all natural. Hyland’s Baby Cough Syrup is naturally sweetened and a safe way to soothe babies six months and up, by relieving the harsh symptoms of coughing.
Would you like to try these? Which are you most excited about?!
