Hi, it’s so nice to meet you! My name is Serena (a.k.a. Bewildered Bug) and I’m a gluten-free, dairy-free, caffeine-free, aiming-to-be-sugar-free (maybe?), self-proclaimed people-watching allergy-queen, just trying to navigate through life.
This blog is my attempt to relay my everyday experiences as someone who is not yet a Mom but no longer a party girl. I blog about life, allergies, food, mental health, events and product reviews with a focus on the Canadian, British and Caribbean experiences and the whole procedure of moving back and forth across the “pond”.
Or at least I used to.
Now, life has put me in the position where I’m truly starting from scratch and now I’m not sure if that’s everything I am going to be writing about. I’m not even sure that I’ll write about any of those topics. Except gluten free living….but for the others, we’ll just have to wait and see I suppose. I welcome you to follow me on my journey of self discovery after years of not knowing that I did not truly know who I am. Yes that makes sense. Read it again slowly.
What I do know is that I am living in Toronto again, and have now lived in New Malden (Surrey , UK – close to London), Huddersfield (West Yorkshire), Toronto (Ontario, Canada) and in Trinidad. And, yes, I still re-visit these places when time and budget allows. I still do have the ability to represent companies and brands in Canada, throughout the UK and throughout the Caribbean personally or via a growing network of online contacts. If you wish to work with me and would like to discuss my international online presence, please do email me (at firstname.lastname@example.org) for more details.
On this blog, I also publish “Mental Health Mondays” every once in a while – a series of guest posts based on your personal experiences with Mental Health from a non-medical point of view. The whole purpose of that is to help dispel stigma about mental health issues and to educate the general public on what it is like to live with mental health issues. These guest posts can be posted anonymously or can link to personal social media sites – please email me if you have a story that you are strong enough to tell – every little bit helps and we need to dispel stigma by increasing awareness.
In addition to this personal blog, I have written and edited for several online communities and blogs including (but not limited to) Singles Warehouse, BrazenWoman, Talking Cranes and Mental Health Talk Info. I also own my at-home business, The Baking Bug , which specializes in allergy free celebration cakes and cake toppers. Why should we miss out on yummy treats just because of our allergies, right?!
